Whale breaching

Recently, we were able to go whale watching when we visited Canada. I have always wanted to do that!

Whales are fascinating marine mammals known for their size, intelligence, and complex behaviors. Here are some interesting facts about them and you:

  • There are about 90 species of whales, divided into two main groups: baleen whales and toothed whales.

  • The blue whale is the largest animal on Earth, reaching lengths of up to 100 feet (30 meters) and weights of around 200 tons.

  • Whales communicate using a variety of sounds, including songs that can travel long distances underwater. Humpback whales are particularly known for their complex songs.

  • They are mammals, but not like most mammals that walk on earth. Whales must come up out of the water to breathe air; they are not like other fish.

  • Most whales die because they drown. The whale is in the water, but not of it.

  • The whale needs a life source that is not in the water. They must come up out of the water for air and access to life.

  • Most of us are unaware of our spiritual needs. In this life you and I need God. We need to worship, sing, and pray, or we will drown.

  • We need to come up for air just like the whale. You and I are in this world but not of it.

“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.” – John 17:14

As believers you and I should try to live with intention, following the teachings of Jesus, while we live with the world around us.
