Love is a Choice

September 10, 20252 min read

This week, I had the honor of celebrating my Great Aunt and Uncle’s 75th Wedding anniversary. Wow! What an accomplishment.

They were 17 years old when they got married and are now 92 years young. This is almost unheard of these days.

When you see a married couple still in love through the years, you may think how lucky they are. But love has never been a matter of luck. Marriage is a process of sharing life with each other and Jesus.

My Aunt and Uncle have made many compromises over the years; they overlooked each other's faults. They forgave each other’s many mistakes and endured many problems. They spent years learning to understand and pray for one another.

Marriage is a process of mutual giving, compromise, shared dreams, care, respect, mercy, and patience.

“Most importantly, love each other deeply, because love will cause people to forgive each other for many sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

Where there is genuine love, you will not see the faults in each other.

Thank God for what you see in your partner, and you will see each other as your perfect match.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Have a blessed week,

Debbie
